Building Canada money has already flowed to communities across the country and many projects are already under way as a result, such as:

Storm sewer work in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia

Water treatment plant work in Taloyoak, Nunavut

New transit buses in Montreal, Quebec Improvements to the Trans-Labrador Highway in Newfoundland

Replacement of the Yellowknife Airport Combined Services building in the Northwest Territories

Upgrades to the Montague Street Bridge in Prince Edward Island

The expansion of the Manitoba Red River Floodway

The extension of the Spadina subway in Toronto, Ontario

The cleanup of Saint John Harbour in New Brunswick

The upgrade to the Kicking Horse Canyon highway in British Columbia

The redevelopment of Stampede Park in Calgary

The revitalization of Evraz Place in Regina, Saskatchewan

The building of the new Congress Centre in Ottawa, Ontario

These infrastructure projects are all funded by the Government of Canada through one of Building Canada’s funds and programs:

Building Canada Fund – $8.8 billion for major infrastructure projects and projects in smaller communities

Gas Tax Fund – over $1.6 billion already delivered for communities across the country, with $10.2 billion to come through 2014 and a permanent $2 billion a year to be provided beyond 2014

Provincial-Territorial Base Funding – $25 million a year available to each province and territory

Asia-Pacific Gateway and Corridor Initiative – $1 billion

Gateways and Border Crossings Fund – $2.1 billion
